Our Leadership

David Mobbs - Chief Executive


David is recognised as an innovative and influential leader in healthcare and he has put Nuffield Hospitals in an excellent position to address people’s changing health needs. Under David’s leadership, Nuffield Hospitals has become the only major healthcare provider able to offer services covering everything from getting healthy to getting excellent treatment, and a model for charitable enterprise. David has extensive experience in healthcare, having worked for Community Hospitals Group and Bupa. In his early career, he was a management consultant for Ernst & Young, and a national management trainee in the NHS. He actually left Nuffield Hospitals as Operations Director in 2002, but was asked to return the following year as Chief Executive. He is regularly invited to participate in health and charity policy thinking at the highest level.


Jack Jones – Group Finance Director


Jack has been with Nuffield Hospitals for 16 years, providing the financial leadership and shrewd eye for investment that has enabled Nuffield Hospitals’s growth to become both the UK’s largest trading charity and one of the most financially robust major healthcare providers.


Patricia Cassidy – Commercial Director / Interim Group Clinical Director


Trish trained as a nurse and worked in the NHS before joining Nuffield Hospitals as a hospital General Manager, becoming a regional director, Commercial Director and even acting as Clinical Director during a period of significant change. However, it is not just this breadth of experience and 25 years in healthcare that makes Trish uniquely qualified to lead our hospitals business, but also her passion for everything that Nuffield Hospitals stands for.


Adrian Downing– Group Strategy & Business Development Director


Adrian concentrates on growing Nuffield Hospital’s business by focusing on what will make the customer’s experience better – new and better services. Since joining Nuffield Hospital in 2004, he has led many of the projects which have made the organisation more competitive, made our pricing fairer and improved our communication with customers at every level.


Andy Lunt – Organisational Development Director


Andy has been a regional director in hospitals and has led the Group’s Organisational Development. These days his work is less visible to customers but no less important: Andy leads the business support services — IT, Property and Procurement — that go on in the background to make our customers’ experience of Nuffield Hospitals safe, efficient and affordable.


Andrew Allen - Managing Director Nuffield Diagnostics/CEO Vanguard Healthcare


Andrew Allen has successfully managed and developed several healthcare businesses over the past 20 years, including Vanguard Healthcare, which has now become Nuffield Hospitals Mobile Services. Since he did such a good job of developing one excellent service based on investment in leading technology, we’ve asked him to do it again, and he now leads our Diagnostics business too.


Andrew Jones– Group Medical Director


Andy is Nuffield Hospitals’s first medical director. He completed surgical training in Leeds and also worked as a GP in Lincolnshire prior to joining us. Andy ensures that Nuffield Hospitals maintains very high standards in taking care of its customers and staff, as demonstrated in the Integrated Governance Report which he published for the first time this year. Andy plays an influential role in the development of health policy and his insight on healthcare issues can be seen in his regular contributions to the Health Service Journal and other publications.


David Holben– Company Secretary and Solicitor


David has been with Nuffield Hospitals for 22 years as Company Solicitor, advising us during many changes. He has developed considerable knowledge and experience in healthcare, charity law, company law and property. In 2006, David assumed the additional role of Company Secretary, and has a complete view of Nuffield Hospital’s governance arrangements.


Chris Cook – IT Director


Chris joined Nuffield Hospitals in February 2004. Prior to that he worked for Le Meridien Hotels as Software Integration Director and at Autoglass as IT Director and before that he worked for 9 years at British Airways in a number of IT management roles.
