Patient Choice Nuffield Hospitals and the NHS
Under the Department of Health's initiative to help reduce waiting times for patients, the private sector (including Nuffield Hospitals) is being used to treat patients waiting for elective (non-emergency) surgery.
We have been working collaboratively with the NHS to help reduce waiting lists, without impacting on our ability to provide the highest level of service, choice and quality of care.
We have worked on various initiatives, which range from national contracts to more bespoke local contracts between the local healthcare authority and Nuffield Hospitals.
Regardless of the type or size of the initiative Nuffield Hospitals always put patient care and clinical excellence at the heart of everything we do.
National Contract
Since 2004, Nuffield Hospitals have undertaken national contracts to help reduce waiting lists, which has successfully established Nuffield Hospitals as an independent sector leader in the provision of services and treatments to the NHS.
Extended Choice
Nuffield Hospitals are participating in the Extended Choice Network* that began in April 2006. Eventually all 39 Nuffield Hospitals in England will be accepting referrals as part of this scheme.
How to Obtain a Referral
All referrals to a Nuffield Hospital must be made through your GP. Please contact your GP for more information.
*Only applicable to England.
